Accessing the Collections
The Hanna Holborn Gray Special Collections Research Center provides access to the University of Chicago's rare books, manuscripts, and university archives. We welcome use of the resources by faculty, students, and staff of the University of Chicago and by visiting researchers.
Access to archives, manuscripts, and special collections is provided in accordance with the Polices Governing the Use of Archives, Manuscript and Special Collections. Access to University of Chicago administrative records is governed by Regulations Governing Access to Official Records of the University of Chicago in the University of Chicago Archives. Other archival and manuscript collections may be governed by specific restrictions or may not be available for immediate use; before planning a research visit, please contact Special Collections staff for further information.

Information for Visiting Researchers
Please contact Special Collections before your visit to determine the availability of the materials you wish to consult.
When you arrive at Regenstein Library, check in at the entry desk to get a visitor pass. If you require guest access to WiFi, please ask for it at this time.
Once admitted to the library, please proceed to the Hanna Holborn Gray Special Collections Research Center on the first floor (JRL 130). You will need a valid driver's license or other current identification with a photograph to complete your registration. Special Collections staff will assist you in using the collections and explain the Guidelines for the Use of Special Collections.
