Using the Collection

Remote Access

The Library's on-line catalog is available on the Internet at http://www.lib.uchicago.edu/h/1

Virtually all of the Library's South Asia holdings can now be searched through our on-line catalog.

For materials on South Asia available on-line, see Global Resources.

Visiting the Collection

All faculty members of colleges and universities may be given reference privileges with no time limit. You should bring your ID card or other evidence of your faculty status.

Students and others from outside the Chicago area can obtain visitor's passes. These are usually limited to five per quarter. If you live within a 50-mile radius of Chicago, you should contact the Reference Department of your own library (academic or public) and identify the materials you need to consult; if appropriate, they can issue you an INFOPASS, which can be exchanged for a day pass at the Cashier's Office in Regenstein Library. The limit is normally five visits per quarter.

For further detail and for contact information, see the webpage of the ID & Privileges Office.
