Arlene Zide (1940-2021) was an academic and poet. She held degrees from New York’s esteemed High School of Music and Art (now LaGuardia), Queens College, University of Pennsylvania, and the University of Chicago. Zide was a professor of Humanities and Women’s Studies at the City Colleges of Chicago. She was an expert on the Indus Valley script and the Munda languages. Her most well-known work was In Their Own Voice: An Anthology of Contemporary Indian Women Poets.
