Scope Note

Scrapbook of holograph and typescript material, related to the development of the wireless radio in the United States. I) Photostats of Lee de Forest, correspondence between 1900-1902 with Edwin Hutchinson Smythe (1873-1953), both employed by the Wireless Telegraph Company of America; II) Photostats of Smythe's research notebooks. Includes photographs of the de Forest-Smyth-Freeman wireless system, assorted clippings, and typescript introduction by Lloyd Espenschied, co-worker of Smythe at Bell Telephone Laboratories. Assembled by Lloyd Espenschied.
