Library instruction help students develop valuable information literacy skills needed not just for academic success, but lifelong learning. Below you can find information about our teaching services or request instruction for your course or program.
Curriculum Support
Course Reserves
Instructors can request that high-demand resources assigned for a specific course (articles, book chapters, films, etc.) be placed on e-reserve via Canvas. Learn how to set up Library course reserves.
Teaching Consultations
UChicago Librarians are available to meet one-on-one with instructors about the Library’s teaching services, or to consult on research assignments or course activities. Consultations are available in person or online. Please complete the form below and a librarian will be in touch to schedule a meeting.
Instruction for Courses
University of Chicago librarians can provide customized research instruction programs for your course, highlighting relevant library resources. Programs can be offered in person, via Zoom, recorded for asynchronous learning, or offered in a “flipped classroom” model for in-class activities.
The Special Collections Research Center and Center for Digital Scholarship also provides instruction for courses.
Online Learning
The Library in Canvas
The Library offers several services to support online learning in Canvas. Students can sign up for our Canvas orientation course, or faculty may embed sections into their own course. Library research guides, which provide links to important research tools and collections, can also be added into the menu of any Canvas course.
Webinars and Web Tutorials
The Library’s YouTube channel has a collection of point-of-need web tutorials to help our users develop research skills and learn to use Library services. The CCRF Resource Library includes webinars developed by the College and the Library to students build research skills such as identifying and locating scholarly sources, developing a literature review, and writing a persuasive research proposal.
