This session will look at ISKME’s IMLS-funded work to develop an understanding of how faculty perform search, discovery, and evaluation of OER. From there, the presentation will look at how tools and platforms aid in the discovery of OER and are also dependent on robust communities and coalitions that ensure a healthy engagement with the work. ISKME will share best practices for developing and sustaining these coalitions to grow successful OER initiatives and hope to connect attendees with OER initiatives on their campuses by providing examples and context from the field.
ISKME, also previously known as the Institute for the Study of Knowledge Management in Education, is an independent, education nonprofit whose mission is to make learning and knowledge sharing more participatory, equitable, and open, such as through their OER Commons. Michelle Brennan is ISKME’s Product Manager for OER Platforms and Services, and Melinda Newfarmer is its Vice President of Services.
