Diasporic Jewish Textual Production
My collection consists of primary and secondary texts relating to the theme of diasporic Jewish cultural production, primarily focusing on Yiddish and German-Jewish literature. It began five years ago, when I visited the Yiddish Book Center in Amherst and brought back a few books in Yiddish. I am particularly interested in books as particular, concrete manifestations of historical moments in the history of Jewish diaspora. I am also interested in translation as well as border crossing more generally: books in languages and places in which they were never meant to be.
