New Educational Opportunities at the MBL
In autumn 2015 the first University of Chicago undergraduate “quarter abroad” program was held at the MBL. Entitled The Whale: Biology, Culture, and Evolution on Nantucket Sound, the program used the whale as a foil for students to examine relationships between people and other organisms from a variety of perspectives. This image is of students in the program on a beach on Nantucket Island, once the center of whaling in the world.
