Soojin V. Yi is a researcher of ecology and evolution, genetics and evolution, marine biology, and zoology whose scholarship has covered genetics and epigenomics in a diverse range of life forms, focusing on analysis of the mutual relationship between genomes and phenotypes. From 2004-2021, she served as Professor of Biological Science at Georgia Institute of Technology. In 2021 Soojin V. Yi was appointed Professor of Ecology, Evolution, and Marine Biology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She was selected as an Alfred Sloan Fellow for 2006-2008, an American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Fellow in 2020. Some of her notable research includes “Molecular Features Driving Cellular Complexity of Human Brain Evolution” (Nature, 2023) and “Cell-Type Specific Epigenetic Links to Schizophrenia Risk in the Brain” (Genome Biology, 2019).
