Joshua Hyung Joon Byun’s research interests include international relations theory, grand strategy, alliance politics, U.S. foreign policy, and Cold War history. Joshua Hyung Joon Byun is currently an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Boston College. Prior to assuming his faculty position, Byun was a Global Innovation Program Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania’s Perry World House and a Hans J. Morgenthau Fellow at the Notre Dame International Security Center. His recent works include “More than a Number: Aging Leaders in International Politics,” International Studies Quarterly 2023 (with Austin Carson), and “Punishment and Politicization in the International Human Rights Regime,” American Political Science Review 2022 (with Rochelle Terman).
