Jang Jip Choi is a contemporary Korean political scientist who has actively pursued research on the reality and prospects of Korean democracy, focusing on labor and social economy. Embodied by the notion of “Democracy after democratization,” he has argued that in the post-democratization era, politics should take precedence over bifurcated struggles of good and evil. Jang Jip Choi has held positions as Professor of Political Science & International Relations and Director of the Asiatic Research Institute at Korea University as well as Chairman of the Presidential Commission on Policy Planning. His main publications include Theory of Korean Democracy (1993, in Korean), Democratization of Democracy (2006, in Korean), and Democracy After Democratization: The Korean Experience (2012, in English).
