Since the 1890s research at the University of Chicago and the Marine Biological Laboratory has grown, expanded, and evolved to touch all aspects of the life sciences. Today the cooperative spirit between the two institutions continues. The frontier is open; many discoveries will continue the legacy of Charles Otis Whitman.
