Winter 2021 on-site Library services
As Winter Quarter begins, the Library will continue offering many of the services provided in Autumn Quarter in ways that incorporate University practices that protect the health and well-being of both patrons and Library staff. Due to the ongoing need to limit the number of people in our spaces, the Library’s on-site services will be offered only to faculty, other academic appointees, students, and staff with a current UChicago ID.
Library rules and the UChicago Health Pact continue to apply: face masks must be worn at all times and patrons must remain socially distanced.
Book a Seat
Patrons will be able to book specific seats in the Library for quiet, individual study or for use of a computer workstation. Registration will be open for Crerar, Mansueto, and Regenstein beginning January 19, for D’Angelo Law (for UChicago Law faculty, students, and staff only) beginning January 11, and for SSA (for SSA faculty, students, and staff only) beginning January 12. At Regenstein, Mansueto, and Crerar libraries, reservations will be available in half hour increments for up to 3 hours. Follow the above links for additional rules about seat reservations.
Reservable seats on the 4th Floor Reading Room of Regenstein can be used to attend Zoom classes and meetings. Students will need to bring their own computers and headphones, but the space will be zoned to allow for vocal class participation at a moderate volume instead of quiet study. Reservations must be placed at least 12 hours in advance.
