This Open Access Week (October 23-29, 2023), the University of Chicago Library will meet you on campus and virtually to provide information about enabling open access to your research data and publications.

An information desk will be set up in two campus locations to field your questions about open access and research data sharing:

October 23, 2:00-3:00 pm
Green Hall, Room 101
5848 S. University Avenue

October 25, 10:30-11:30 am
Social Sciences Research Center, Room 344
1155 E. 60th Street

If you wonder about how to select an open access journal, how to fund the open access fee, when and where to share research data as required by funders, etc., come to the information desk and ask away! No registration is required.

Additionally, a webinar will take place at 10:00 am on October 24 to address open access for the humanities and humanistic social sciences. Stephanie Veldman from the publisher Brill will provide an overview of publishing research as an open access journal article. Dr. Sofia Torallas-Tovar, Professor of Classics and Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at UChicago, will discuss her experiences with and insights into open access. There will be time for a Q&A between the speakers and the audience. This webinar is free, but registration is required.

Questions about these events can be directed to Adrian Ho, Scholarly Communications Librarian at the UChicago Library. For information about the concerned topics, please visit the Library’s guides to open access and research data sharing.
