Science librarians are relocating over winter interim

On December 20, the science librarians, currently located in the John Crerar Library, will temporarily move to the Ryerson Laboratory on the main quad while new spaces are arranged for them in the Joseph Regenstein Library. We anticipate they will be installed in their offices in Ryerson starting January 3. During the move period, the science librarians will be available virtually.

Once the move is complete, you can locate the science librarians in the following offices in Ryerson:

  • 152A - Barbara Kern
  • 153 - Holiday Vega
  • 156 - Jenny Hart
  • 157 - Deb Werner
  • 150 - Kaitlyn Van Kampen

Crerar Access Services staff will remain on Crerar’s Lower Level. The Kathleen A. Zar Room and GIS Hub will remain on Crerar’s first floor. Planning is currently underway to build a new consultation/meeting space on the Crerar Lower Level to be used by librarians to meet and interact with faculty, students, and staff and for Crerar staff to hold meetings.

The move from the Crerar Library to the Regenstein Library creates an opportunity for the science librarians to strengthen the team and collaborative environment by being in closer physical proximity to colleagues in Regenstein. Further, this presents an opportunity to explore greater interdisciplinary and collaborative work with faculty, students, and staff, extending the reach of the science librarians, as well as all librarians at the University of Chicago.
