Find Tools, Software, and Experts on UChicago Research Data Services website

Update: 2/25/2025

Data rescue efforts are underway across the nation in response to the removals of some research datasets, data portals, and databases from federal government websites. Research Data Services in the Center for Digital Scholarship is helping to identify, archive, and preserve datasets that researchers have gathered towards this effort. There are also resources available to faculty to help with data-saving endeavors. Here are a few to get started:

Welcome to Research Data Services
Research Data Services website homepage

The Provost’s Research Data Management and Sharing (RDMS) Committee, led by the University of Chicago Library, has launched a new website that provides campus researchers with tools, software, and contact information for campus experts on data services at https://researchdata.uchicago.edu/

Using the new UChicago Research Data Services website, faculty, grant managers, PIs (principal investigators) and other researchers and instructors can build their knowledge about the research data management lifecycle, connect to research data services, and stay informed about relevant events on campus. The site features a services database filterable by university division, research data lifecycle phase, or by keyword search. Researchers can use the site to connect with experts directly on topics like project planning, writing data management plans, and appropriate persistent identifiers. The site also serves as a hub for information about news and events related to research data.

UChicago Research Data Services supports researchers in the management and sharing of their data to improve transparency, ensure preservation, and follow funder and institutional guidance. It was developed by the RDMS Committee, which is charged by the Office of the Provost to coordinate research data resources across campus and develop recommendations for future services that support better research data practices. It consists of representatives of divisional data services, IT Services, the Library, the Research Computing Center, and University Research Administration (URA) and is chaired by Torsten Reimer, University Librarian and Dean of the University Library.

UChicago researchers looking for support with their research data needs are encouraged to visit the UChicago Research Data Services website or contact datasharing@uchicago.edu
