Anne D. Williams is Professor Emerita of Economics at Bates College. She holds a A.B. (1965) in economics from Smith College, and a master’s degree and PhD (1976) in economics from the University of Chicago. While at the University of Chicago, she studied under Theodore Schultz, Gary Becker, and James Heckman. In 1975, she joined the economics faculty at the University of Pennsylvania, and in 1981 joined Bates College as the chair of the economics department.
Her early research related to determinants of fertility in the United States. She is also an expert on jigsaw puzzles.
This collection is comprised of brochures, programs, photos, and other neighborhood ephemera related to Hyde Park and the University of Chicago. It also includes student publications with broadsides drawn by University of Chicago alumnus, Roger Vaughan (PhD 1977).
