| Abstract: | This collection includes records from different programs that were housed in Wilder House, an interdisciplinary research center at the University of Chicago. |
This collection is open for research with the exception of Box 2, which contains material to which access is restricted. Box 2 contains meeting minutes that are restricted for 30 years from the record's date of creation. Box 2 also contains financial, budget, and personnel materials that are restricted for 50 years from the record's date of creation. Box 2 also contains legal and student materials that are restricted for 80 years from the record's date of creation.

This collection includes records from different programs that were housed in Wilder House, an interdisciplinary research center at the University of Chicago. Wilder House published a book series called the Wilder House Series. The publisher was Cornell University Press. The series published 21 titles and was edited by David Laitin and George Steinmetz. This collection includes records related to the Wilder House Series.
This collection also contains records from Center for the Study of Politics, History & Culture (interchangeably also referred to as “Wilder House” and “the Center”). This Center was affiliated with faculty and graduate students in the social sciences who were interested in research on politics, history, and culture in all geographical areas of the world. The Center for the Study of Politics, History & Culture sponsored forums and was affiliated with the Council for Advanced Studies in Peace and International Cooperation (CASPIC).
CASPIC, which was also housed at Wilder House, was supported by a 3-year grant from the MacArthur Foundation to “direct research and graduate education in the field of peace and international cooperation.” The Director was David Laitin. This collection includes records from CASPIC and Annual Reports for MacArthur Foundation grant (1995-1998).
This collection also includes publicity materials from The Chicago Center for Contemporary Theory (3CT). 3CT was founded in 2004 by seven faculty members from the Divisions of the Social Sciences and Humanities. It is a collective on the University of Chicago’s campus that is a space for discussion of social, political, and cultural processes in the world today.
