Abstract:

Raymond W. Trowbridge (ca. 1886-1936) was an architect and photographer in Chicago. He is best known for his photographs of Chicago’s buildings. This collection is a scrapbook of his photos of Rockefeller Memorial Chapel at the University of Chicago.

Biographical Note

Raymond W. Trowbridge (ca. 1886-1936) was an architect in Chicago until 1923 when he turned to photography due to health concerns. He is known for his photographs of Chicago’s buildings. This scrapbook is a collection of his photos of Rockefeller Memorial Chapel at the University of Chicago, then known as The University Chapel. The scrapbook, entitled “Frozen Music of an Architectural Anthem,” includes 28 plates of both the exterior and interior of the Chapel.
