Vivian Gussin Paley was born on January 25, 1929 in Chicago. She received her PhB in 1947 from the University of Chicago, a bachelor’s in psychology in 1950 from Newcomb College, and a master’s degree in education in 1965 from Hofstra University. She taught in New Orleans and Great Neck, New York before joining the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools in 1971. She taught at the Laboratory Schools until she retired in 1995. She was the author of 13 books, and she was the recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship in 1989 for her work in education.
This collection is comprised of correspondence with a colleague, Anita Page.
