The first document (ff. 1r-16r)in the codex is chronicles on Protestant church and school reforms by Johann Mathesius (1504-1565). These were reforms Mathesius carried out himself as a minister. The second main part (ff. 19r-140r) is called "Chronicles of the Rammelsberg Mines in the Harz Mountains, near St. Joachimsthal." This section is not by Mathesius, but rather by an unknown author or group of authors. This section discusses the history of mining operations in the area.
