Biographical Note

Thomas E. Lisco was born in 1939. The son of a professor at the Medical School, Lisco completed his undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Chicago. He completed a PhD in Economics in 1967 with a dissertation entitled "The Value of Commuters’ Travel Time: A Study in Urban Transformation.” After receiving his PhD, Lisco used the data from his dissertation research when he worked at the Chicago Area Transportation Study. He moved to Boston in the late 1970s and began working at the Central Transportation Planning Staff where he did transportation analysis for projects such as the “Big Dig.” Lisco retired in 2010.

Scope Note

The collection is comprised of copies of Lisco’s dissertation manuscript and research. Included are the final copy of the dissertation, marked up drafts of the manuscript and appendix, as well as volumes of the data.
