Lillian Rose Witz Lipson (March 8, 1918 – March 5, 1989) was born in Chicago, IL. She graduated from Lakeview High School in 1935 and then attended the University of Chicago. She was a dance teacher and a member of the Sybil Shearer Dance Company.
Lipson was an activist who supported more than seventy organizations with efforts supporting peace and justice. In 1961, Lipson joined a group of women and formed Women for Peace which advocated to abolish nuclear war.
Relating to Lipson’s activism work, this collection consists of magazines, journals, books, pamphlets, leaflets and publications on national and international politics.
