Michael C. Krauss earned both an undergraduate degree and an MBA from the University of Chicago. He went on to work in the Office of Public Information many years. Following his departure from the University, Krauss went on to become a partner at Diamond Technology Partner and OmniTech Consulting before co-founding his own strategy consultancy, Market Strategy Group in 2004. He has served in multiple leadership positions, such as chairing the audit committee of worldwide architecture and engineering firm, Ellerbe Becket, as well as serving on their board of directors. Krauss currently serves on the board of the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship. He also acts as the 2nd Vice Chair on the Board and on the executive committee of the Economic Club of Chicago. Krauss is also a member of the Chicago Club, the University Club of Chicago, and serves as a judge for the Chicago Innovation Awards.
During his tenure at the University, Krauss compiled an extensive collection of sports memorabilia that includes newspapers, magazines, photographs, schedules, film, and even a kazoo. The collection contains records and photos of a variety of sports, but is predominantly centered on football and track, including a unique assemblage of Amos Alonzo Stagg (1862-1965) memorabilia. Krauss presided over the 1974 50th anniversary game celebrating the Maroon’s Big 10 Championship win in 1924. The collection also documents two-time Olympian and two-time U.S. national champion, Rick Wohlhuter success in the 800 meter run.
