Volume Two: Scrapbook of trial transcripts, clippings, photographs, and correspondence, related to the mental competence of convicted murderer Bertram C. Spencer, with Briggs acting as a key expert in criminal insanity for the defense. Includes typescript article by Edgar H. Houldcroft on patient abuse in mental institutions, and related clippings. Tipped in or pasted onto heavy brown paper. Collected by Lloyd Vernon Briggs. (Two letters by Emma Goldman, related to the Czolgosz case, later added to codex. Gift of Charles Henry Mitchell, June 1938.) One box of glass negative plates, photographs of Czolgosz and Richeson, located with Crerar Objects . Gift of Briggs, July 1937.
