Abstract: | The National Physicians' Committee for the Extension of Medical Service was a lobbying organization affiliated with the American Medical Association, and supported by pharmaceutical concerns. In 1948-1949, the NPC attacked Truman-era national health care proposals, such as the Wagner-Murray-Dingell Bill, and the federal security administrator Oscar R. Ewing's advocacy of compulsory health insurance.
