Drawn by Manby on a trip from Liverpool to Greenland on the Baffin, 1821 April 5. Also includes pen & ink, hand-colored map of the Polar Ice region by W. Scoresby, Jr., 1821; manuscript list of explorer's terms; and two letters from H. W. Feilden, London, to Nicholson, December 30, 1878, A.L.S., 2 p.; and December 30, 1878, A.L.S., 4 p., tipped in. Inscribed in pencil on flyleaf: "Arctic. Manby's original Sketch Book made in company of Capt. Scoresby. Very [spirited] clever & valuable as regards the Leadlands Icebergs &c"; "abt. 25 sepia & water-colour drawings, abt. 45 pencil sketches of Ice Formations, Whales (anatomical details) Seals &c." Sketchbook bound in red leather, tooled with gilt edging.
