The Workers (Communist) Party was founded in 1919 and was located in Chicago until 1927, when its headquarters were moved to New York, alongside its daily newspaper the Daily Worker. The Communist Party membership was spread throughout 36 neighborhoods and union groups in various industries, including metal, printing, railroad, and food industries.
