Citizens Forum was a student organization at the University of Chicago. It was established by in 1967 by Stefan Krieger, Jim Unger, Alan Gold, Ben Lowinsky, Alan Rudnick (class of 1969), and Howard Ramseur (class of 1968). The group produced five-minute radio segments against the Vietnam War. Each episode told a different story about the war and urged listeners to write to obtain a pamphlet that the organization composed called, “Facts on Viet Nam.” Members of the group wrote scripts for the programs, fundraised, and acted out different roles in the radio episodes. They produced the programs at the student-run radio station WUCB (now WHPK) and at WTAQ in La Grange, IL during 1967-1968. The organization’s approach to anti-war advocacy through storytelling set Citizens Forum apart from other advocacy groups on campus.
This collection consists of letters from radio listeners, radio transcripts, meeting notices, flyers, newsletters, and their pamphlet on Vietnam.
