Abstract:

Broda Otto Barnes (1904-1988), a University of Chicago alumnus, specialized in hypothyroidism and related endocrine dysfunctions. This collection consists of memorabilia, primarily photographs, from Barnes' time at the University of Chicago.

Biographical Note

Broda Otto Barnes, M.D., Ph.D. (1904-1988) studied chemistry and biochemistry at the University of Chicago, where he eventually completed a Ph.D. on the thyroid gland. He then taught physiology at the University of Chicago and later became a professor of medicine at the University of Illinois. In 1984, Barnes and his wife founded the Broda O. Barnes, M.D. Research Foundation, Inc.

This collection consists of memorabilia, primarily photographs, from Barnes' time at the University of Chicago.
